About Us
At Garmer & Prather, PLLC, we devote our practice exclusively to litigation. We go to court on behalf of people who have been injured and the families of people who have died as a result of the negligence of another person or corporation.
Our firm was founded by William R. "Bill" Garmer, a highly respected trial lawyer with 40 years of experience trying cases in Kentucky. Garmer & Prather was selected by the attorney general to represent the commonwealth of Kentucky in a consumer protection action against pharmaceutical giant Merck for false and deceptive practices in its sales and marketing of Vioxx in Kentucky. The case settled for $25 million. The attorney general earmarked the settlement proceeds for Kentucky's efforts to battle heroin addiction through rehabilitation.
Bill Garmer is immediate past president of the Kentucky Bar Association. In 2014, he was inducted into the University of Kentucky College of Law Hall of Fame. Bill has also been awarded the Kentucky Justice Association's Trial Lawyer of the Year award. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1987 and has been named one of the Top 50 lawyers in Kentucky by Super Lawyers in 2008 and every year since 2010.
Since 2009, our firm has obtained more than $80 million in verdicts and settlements for our clients. We achieve these results by rigorously preparing cases for trial, engaging the best possible expert witnesses and dedicating our full resources and attention to every client.
