Garmer & Prather was selected by the attorney general to represent the commonwealth of Kentucky in a consumer protection action against pharmaceutical giant Merck for false and deceptive practices in its sales and marketing of Vioxx in Kentucky. The case settled for $25 million. The attorney general earmarked the settlement proceeds for Kentucky's efforts to battle heroin addiction through rehabilitation.
Bill Garmer is immediate past president of the Kentucky Bar Association. In 2014, he was inducted into the University of Kentucky College of Law Hall of Fame. Bill has also been awarded the Kentucky Justice Association's Trial Lawyer of the Year award. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1987 and has been named one of the Top 50 lawyers in Kentucky by Super Lawyers in 2008 and every year since 2010.
